She loved pink, loved to be fashionable, and loved anything girly! This princess' personality really shined through in everything she did. At the age of two, Emily was diagnosed with a brain cancer called Medulloblastoma, after having face paralysis and what doctors thought was Bells Palsy. After enduring 10 months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation, Emily was in remission for 18 months. Unfortunately, Emily relapsed in August, 2018. She then received an additional six months of chemotherapy, and twelve weeks of radiation. Sadly, her last round of chemotherapy did not work, and Emily passed away April 15,2020 surrounded by her family. Through Emily's loss, her mom, Christy, has become a very close friend of Sami's, and a friend who continues to change Sami's life. Emily is often referred to as Sami's "adopted" angel sister, and through everything Sami does, Emily will NEVER be forgotten. Emily, at six years old, unconditionally loved others. On Christmas, her goal was to give more than to receive. In life, her essence was authentic and unchanging; nonmatter the circumstance. She is the Sami’s Sendoffs image, and the message we aspire to send off to all we encounter. Welcome. We are so glad you stopped by. Thank you for choosing to learn about my mission. I started this foundation when I was 15 years old after losing a classmate to childhood cancer and sending a goodie box to a girl named Emily in that other girl’s honor. A mouthful, I know! Since 2020, I have spent my time in dedication to children and families battling childhood cancer. Time has passed since then, and with time passing comes growth. With growth, tends to come a lot of change. All my life, I have wanted to help anyone I can. I want to be a light. Be a friend. And I want to teach other people my age how to do the same. My life’s mission is spreading MY light in hopes it encourages others to do the exact same. My life was once dark. I once wondered why things happened. I asked what the purpose was. I didn’t find one until recently, when I expanded Sami’s Sendoffs into the “ray of sunshine” I believe God intended it to be.
